Probably the biggest lesson I learned from doing feather circles came from the metaphor piece we had to write. I had centered my piece around this metaphor of a town inside my brain with all its inhabitants (or my ‘emotions’) eventually leaving. Everything went over pretty well at the workshop, everyone seemed to like it and only told me to not add anything else. And guess what? I ignored what they said and added more elements, ending me with what I consider my worst piece and literally zero thank you notes besides the one from Giles. So, I realized that if I want to actually, ya’know, write good, I should seriously be taking into consideration the feedback I get.
